HOW TO WASH YOUR SYNTHETIC WIG
s aSynthetic fiber wigs are easy to take care, only requiring a special shampoo and conditioner to protect the synthetic fibre. We recommend that you clean your wig twice a month during the warmer months and once a month in the cooler seasons.
Never apply heat to your synthetic wig. This will result in the melting or frizzing of your man made fibre. Keeping this in mind, shampoo your wig in cool water.
To wash your wig, soak the hair in a container of water and a capful of shampoo for 3-5 minutes. Do not rub or scrub it but instead push down gently. Rinse thoroughly with cool water, keeping the hair in one direction and gently combing through with your fingertips to avoid tangles. Wrap the wig in a towel, shake the wig out, and spray it with conditioner (don’t rinse out). Hang your wig in a well-ventilated place to dry such a doorknob or a wig saver stand.
If you used special shampoo and conditioner, your wig should be shiny, flexible, and natural looking. Once completely dry, fluff with a hair pick and style on your mannequin head. For better styling, lightly mist the wig with water as you go. When finished, spray with a non-alcohol hairspray to preserve the look.
When not in use, store your wig in an airy and shady place. Sunlight and artificial light can fade the colour of your wig.
HOW TO WASH YOUR HUMAN HAIR WIG
Human hair wigs require more care. A special shampoo and conditioner are required to protect the delicate hair. We recommend that you clean your wig twice a month during the warmer months and once a month in the cooler seasons.
Don’t apply excessive heat. This will damage your hair fibres. With this in mind, wash and condition your hair in cool or lukewarm water. Keep the hair in one direction, comb gently with your fingers, and do not rub or scrub the wig. Make sure to rinse thoroughly.
Wrap the wig in a towel, shake the water out, and spray leave-in-conditioner. Brush it gently using a hair pick. Style it on your Styrofoam mannequin head after every time you wash it. Heat and brushes may be used carefully. Once styled, spray the hair with a non-alcohol hairspray to preserve the look.
When not in use, store your wig in an airy and shady place. Sunlight and artificial light can fade or change the colour of your wig. Wash your wig as little as possible. A backup piece is recommended if you wear your wig every day.
